Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a zine/fanzine?
A fanzine is a fan-made, unofficial collection of fanart, fanfiction, and other derivative works based on a preexisting work or collection of works. In this case, this fanzine is based on the universe of Genshin Impact and will be focused on the relationship between Diluc Ragnvindr and Kaeya Alberich.
2. Is this zine digital or physical?
This zine will be digital only. The contributors’ works will be arranged in a digital PDF and ebook format, and the SFW and NSFW sections will be provided both separately or together. Digital merch may also be included depending on the contributors’ interest.
3. Is this zine for-charity or for-profit?
This zine will be free. If you feel like it and happen to have some disposable income, though, you could donate to a charity of your choice near you. In general, donations to smaller, local, community initiatives such as food banks and homeless, mental health, LGBTQ+ or domestic violence shelters in your area will have a bigger impact than donating to big, international organizations. If you don’t know where to donate, we would suggest local organizations that support LGBTQ+ rights or pro-Palestinian charities.
4. What is the content rating of this zine?
This zine will contain both SFW content and NSFW (18+) content. The collections will be provided both separately and together so that you may browse them separately if you prefer.
5. Who can join this zine?
Anyone over the age of 18 years old may join this zine, so long as they are interested in creating content featuring Kaeya and Diluc’s relationship following our zine’s guidelines. You don’t have to have participated in zines before, have a high follower count, or a reputation as a KaeLucKae creator. Fixed or switch/verse shipper, we don’t mind, as long as you’re civil and courteous with your peers. Our only exceptions will be the following:
— People who have actively harassed, insulted, demeaned or otherwise antagonized people for their shipping preferences are not welcome in this zine. This applies to all ships in all fandoms, not just Kaeluc/Luckae shipping preferences.
— People who have expressed sexist, transphobic, homophobic, biphobic, racist, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory opinions are not welcome in this zine.
— People who engage in antagonizing, inflammatory or otherwise antisocial behaviour in public or in private may be excluded from the project at the mods’ discretion. Our goal is to ensure all contributors feel safe in the environment of our zine for the entire duration of the project, so we may take action with aims to pursue that goal outside of the rules defined in this document.
— Please be aware that the zine’s common spaces will allow both Kaeluc and Luckae, as well as switch/verse and dynamic-ambiguous content. Bearing this in mind, we ask that you 1) do not force your own interpretation of the portrayed dynamic on other contributors (e.g. labelling something as “Kaeluc” if someone presents it without labelling it or arguing about whether something “counts” as either dynamic), and 2) respect people’s ability to share any dynamic in the common areas.
6. Is this zine proship?
Yes. For us, this means that we do not care what you create outside of the zine, so long as you are able to follow our guidelines to create your piece for this zine and are able to follow our Discord server’s content rules.
7. What content will be allowed for this zine?
This zine is inclusive of all KaeLucKae dynamics, including fixed top!Diluc/bottom!Kaeya, fixed top!Kaeya/bottom!Diluc and switch/verse content. It will allow portraying them as brothers, friends, enemies, lovers, and more. It will also allow so-called “dead dove” content and content which may be considered by some as problematic.
The only contents which will be forbidden are:
— Non-con/rape (dubious consent is allowed).
— Scat and piss kink.
— Underage content. All sexual relations must be between adults. (Note: Portraying Kaeya and Diluc as children/teenagers is fine, but direct portrayal of sex between them as minors will not be allowed. Allusions to them having had sex as teenagers are fine.)
— Major character death portrayed “on screen” (mentioned past/future and implied major character death is allowed).
— During our pitching period, if you are uncertain if your ideas are a correct fit for the zine, you will be welcome to reach out to a mod to discuss ahead of finalizing your pitches. Generally, however, if your idea does not directly include any of these four themes, it should be fine to include (with a content/trigger warning, if you agree to it).
Yes, this means that Omegaverse, incest, mpreg, oviposition, monsterfucking, gore and vore are allowed, so long as they are not non-con.
Note: These content restrictions are to respect our formatting mod’s personal boundaries, as they will have to look over all of the contents to put together the PDFs and ebooks.
8. How will the creation period be organized?
1. We will run an interest check to gather data about interest for our zine.
2. We will open a form for all who wish to create for the zine to join the project.
3. Contributors will be invited to describe ("pitch") their ideas to the mod team. Mods will select which idea the creators should focus on.
4. Contributors will have 3 months to create their pieces.
5. After all final pieces are submitted, our beta readers will beta read the fanfiction and the formatting mod will begin xir work.
6. Once the first draft of the zine is finalized, contributors will have some time to look it over and ask for corrections, if need be.
7. The zine will be released publicly for free.
9. Can I submit a piece I have already created/that is currently a WIP for this zine?
You may submit a piece you have already created or complete a current WIP for this zine, so long as it has not been publicly released in any capacity before our zine’s release and fits within our guidelines and themes.
10. Can I publish/print/sell my piece that I did for the zine?
Yes, after the zine’s release, you are free to do whatever you want with your piece. Until the release, though, we ask that you keep your piece private.
11. What will I be required to tag in my piece for the zine?
Nothing, specifically. This includes relationship dynamics, the tagging of which will be left at the creator’s discretion. Please note, though, that if your piece contains something which is likely to be shocking or triggering to people, the mods may elect to put a blanket statement that your piece contains untagged potentially triggering contents before it in the final zine. We may also suggest changes to the content/trigger warnings included with a piece, but they will be up to the creator to accept.
12. What is the minimum amount of contribution?
Contributors must submit at least 1 complete piece. To be more specific:
— We are expecting 1 full-page illustration from page artists, ideally with a background, even if minimal/abstract.
— We are expecting at least 1 page from comic artists.
— We are expecting at least 1 piece of digital merch from merch artists.
— We are expecting at least 1 complete work from writers, whether it be a poem, a story, a series of journal entries, or a drabble or flash fiction. There is no minimum word count.
13. Can I contribute more than one piece?
Yes, provided you are able to finish everything and submit it by the deadline.
For the sanity of our beta readers and formatting mod, we ask that writers limit their total word count to 5,000 words (that is to say, you could write two 2,500-word fics for the SFW zine or a 5,000-word fic for the NSFW zine, but not both; you could also write 1,500 words for the SFW zine and 3,500 words for the NSFW zine, should you want to write for both). We won’t be strict on this, but this is a general request as a courtesy for our volunteers’ time and energy.
You may contribute both as a writer and an artist. There is no maximum number of contributions for artists, but we suggest comic artists to make their comic be 12 pages or less to simplify typesetting and make sure their workload is manageable for the zine’s deadline.
14. How does beta reading work and what does it do?
After final submissions, volunteers of the project will go through each written piece (including comics) and review it. As a writer, you will be able to choose the general depth of beta reading you wish to receive; at a minimum, you must allow us to fix any obvious typos and make sure your fic aligns with our requirements for the formatting mod to be able to do their work.
We won’t allow you to directly choose a beta reader, but if there’s someone you’d prefer or someone you don’t want to work with, you will be able to say so when you submit your piece.15. Can I collab with someone else?
Yes. There will be general channels where people can describe their pitches and look for partners, but it will be up to you to find a partner and coordinate with them. We can create a private channel for you to communicate with your partner(s) upon request, however, we will not be responsible to keep track of collaborations.
16. Can other ships be included in pieces for this zine?
This will be decided through our interest check.
17. I have other questions which are not answered by this document, where can I ask them?
You can contact us via our askbox, via email, or via DMs on X/Twitter or Bluesky.
